Featured: Murals! Mazes! Drawing Lessons, and a Class!

Uh, Featured Post Thursday? Okay - whatever.

Also, I've published Two Free Drawing Lessons, one on Stick Figures and one on Faces, which encourage you to get out the pencil. At the end are printable pages for even further inspiration - these will be expanding into a whole series of lessons, so keep pencil and paper handy!

The Creative Beast is out on YouTube, with marvelous guitar accompaniment.

And, check out "Your Own True Voice," an animation I did for Coaching Sanctuary. And while you're at it, take a look at the great work Coaching Sanctuary is doing. It's inspiring, it's uplifting, and it's really really cool.

Finally, I'm teaching a Class on Creating Comics and Graphic Novels for kids and young adults, in June, at Book Passage in Corte Madera, California! Come check it out!!

School Mural: The Painting Has Begun!

Oh boy, we're to the good part.

4th graders with paint brushes have begun to apply fabulous colors to our mural. So far they've gotten through most of the panel with the DNA molecules and leaf cell stomata.

I just love the colors of this mural paint!

Our science teacher, Mr. Winter, put dots of suggested colors in each area on each square. Then the kids went for it. You can see examples of the color dots on the two panels of DNA that aren't painted yet.

Then, the whole thing gets put together like a big puzzle.

Now we're waiting on some red paint so the kids can paint in the centers of the DNA -

I'd better get going on the next panel! It's going to have the cell stomata in the middle, and oak leaves around the outside.... Hooray!
